CPU Temp At 86.0C

What do I do? I just moved my cpu into a open/close compartment. I keep it open when on, but the temp is really high. The hwdoctor is telling me warning and saying it's too hot. What should I do?

first question the fan is spining on the cooler ?

yes, all fans are spinning

if you are over clocking, stop. make sure the heatsink does not have a bunch of dust and crud. did this just start out of the blue? try a different heatsink and fan. 90 C is cook temp for a amd, but never let it get near 80 C.

You sure you're on the right sensor? Does that temp ever fluctuate (like down around 25 when you first boot up after being off for several hours)? I have one sensor that constantly says I'm at 76C, no matter what.

No, I am not overclocking. Also, I don't know a lot of what I am doing so please explain better. I know a lot about working computers, just not the insides. Where do I look for dust and crud in the heatsink? What is that?

Next. Right sensor? It is a little lower when I boot up.

You said that you moved it "into a open/close compartment". Do you mean that the box is now in a draw or something semi-sealed?

A lot of the desks have a closeing compartmant that is tall and can fit cpu's in, this is what I mean. I put it in there, and left the front door open all the time. It was about 85c. I cut a big rectagle in the back of the compartment where the holes for the cords were thinking this would help. It didn't, I am guessing because the back is close to the wall. I have moved the cpu to the top of my desk where it is in the open. The only part now that is closed is one side, which is against the wall. It is now maintaining a temp of around 81c. A little lower. This is still high by the warnings and high levels hwdoctor tells me. I opended my case and there are two fans spinning. One at the top of the back that is bigger than the second. The second one is smaller and is over the procceser chip. Both are spinning. When my case was open on one side the temp was reported to be 68c. Does this mean hwdoctor is accurate? Also, should I take a pic of the inside? What else can I do to keep it cool with the case sides on?

one last thing, in hwdoctor it has options to set the low limit and high limit of temp. THe default is low limit 75c and high limit 80c. Will this just change when it warns me of temp, or acually change the temp with the fans?

There is also an option for the low limit of the cpu fan? What are all of these options in hwdoctor?

enclosures cause heat problems, but you say you are using a hardware monitor, have you checked the temp in the bios, the program could be wrong. as for what is a heatsink, it is a usually aluminum riser with fins and a fan on top. sometimes dust will build up to a point that it can not dissipate heat correctly.
