I have tried installing Linux from three different companies (Red Hat, Corel, Mandrake) and always run into the same problem: at some point in the installation, the screen goes fuzzy.
I suspect that there is a compatibility problem with my video card (the Windows Settings menu under Systems Properties tells me that I have a Default Monitor, running a display adapter which is the following: Trident 9685/9680/9682/9385/9382/9385-1 PCI).
Could anyone suggest a possible solution -- I would really like to install Linux.
Thank you.

You need to unplug your video board and make sure which brand/model/chipset it is.

Do not configure X and see what happen.
