I'll be learning Java in the next programming course of next term. And I want to know what should I know before taking that course. So far, I only know HTML and a bit of JavaScript.
If you know JavaScript fairly well, and understand the object oriented or "based" concepts of JS, Java shouldn't be too hard. But there are a few different constructs. And all variables are type cast, so when you make a variable, you make it an interger or a double or a character, and you can't flip back and forth as easily as you do in JS.
Like I said, I only know a bit of JS. :(
Is there any tutorials on JS that are very user-friendly?
Before I took my Java course at college I had taught myself javascript and found that it made learning Java a heck of a lot easier.
You will see the same exact concepts with incredibly similar syntax. Although Java and Javascript are similar in name and syntax they actually have to relation to each other. Netscape developed Javascript because them and Sun Microsystems(developers of Java) were working together.
Ok anyways im babbling. Trust me that learning javascript now which is fairly easy to do will make your life much easier in your Java course.
