Specific Level to Buy bug?

for v3 b2. a guy not new to the forums, but to the rpg just made a character. he's a level 1 with $1,500 and just bought a weapon for a level 15, and a helmet for a level 2. he isn't in battle yet. for me when i'm not at the required level to purchase it says my level is too low.

Hmm.
Could you tell me, is his Battle Type any different from yours?

every item and weapon is just set for generic.

his profile: http://www.treethugs.com/forum/rpg.php?userid=19
user: vBorg
pass: test

if you look in the itemshop you'll see that mythril spear (lvl 15), and iron helmet (lvl 2) are way beyond his level 1. he's awaiting for battle...so not sure if he could use it yet.

This is weird... My online forum is using the EXACT same itemshop.php file as you do.
The only different thing is that my items are divided into Battle Groups.
And I doubt he will be halted from using the item, as I don't think there's any level check in the battle pages.
This is odd... If this ONLY happens to him and ONLY on your forum, then I might have to label this as "Won't fix".
I *will* try with a fresh install on my localhost as soon as I get home, before giving this one up :)

Okay, I can verify this bug now.
I will get right on fixing it.
I am also working on something else that will involve having to run an update script.
Some problems with RPG types and the likes.

Aha, for some reason it doesn't halt ONLY if the user is at level 1 with no exp.
So Im gonna add a clause saying that XP must also be above 0. This will not cause any problems as to the level requirement 0, 1 or 2, because 1 post even on the lowest setting == 1 level up.

sweet. well i just did the full upgrade to v3 b3. good to see it's fixed. should i just tell the guy to sell back his items?

Well you should, else he will be having overpowered items for his level ;)

cool, i got him to sell...and gave him an extra 50pts for finding the bug... hope that doesn't intice him to go searching...

Well I do, because that means future bugs will be discovered before everyone starts exploiting them :p
